Wayne Hart Studio

WELCOME

From turning a promising sketch in to his high school art teacher, to using used books from old art masters, and learning from trial and error, Wayne Hart has amassed a nearly thirty year history of work. The body of work has been found in the homes of friends, the walls of local businesses in Elkins, West Virginia and also tucked away in Wayne’s home studio. In 2006, Wayne Hart completed Winter’s Color and decided to make it and other pieces available as limited edition prints. In 2007 Wayne was juried as a Tamarack artisan and began offering prints at the Tamarack gallery.

In the early years, after being enrolled, accepted, and packed for pre-veterinary school, his father feeling something was out of balance, sits him down, and talked about Wayne’s passion and artistic abilities. He said, you have a talent that is given and not necessarily learned, maybe you should follow it. Being a veterinarian on the other hand is a learned skilled and not given; you or anybody else can learn that skill now or later. Follow your passion, he father said.

Taking a job at the local YMCA to support himself, Wayne was tasked to paint the gymnasium walls. A couple of days later when his boss decided to check Wayne’s work on what was to be a simple re-paint, he found that Wayne had started a very large mural on the wall. Puzzled and a little concerned, Wayne’s boss thought to himself, we can always paint over it later. What Wayne’s boss soon found was an extraordinary artist at work, six walls, and six murals later, this remarkable work and Wayne’s talent were available for the community to enjoy.

In addition to being a Tamarack juried artisan, Wayne has supported his life for nearly thirty years as an artist. Wayne has been featured in West Virginia and Wonderful Magazine, selected to participate in gallery exhibits at Tamarack – the best of West Virginia and has 23 limited edition lithographs to his credit. Wayne lives in Elkins, West Virginia with his wife Jodie.
